According to the statement of UP ATS, the police have arrested three suspects from Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnor and six others are being questioned.

On April 20, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in a joint operation with the special cell of Delhi police, Maharashtra ATS, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab Police arrested three ISIS suspects.

The arrest came nearly a month after alleged ISIS terrorist Saifullah was killed in a police encounter in Lucknow.

According to the statement of UP ATS, the police have arrested three suspects from Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnor and six others are being questioned.

The arrested men were reportedly part of an ISIS module that was looking for potential recruits in Bihar, UP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

We received information of a group being readied for terror activities, said the UP ATS officials.

“Special Cell of Delhi Police, CI cell of Andhra, Maharashtra ATS, Punjab and Bihar Police were involved in the operation,” they added.

The arrests were the result of simultaneous raids being conducted in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar following inputs about ISIS terror modules.

The security forces have detained six more people in this connection.
