Terror drone death toll hits 7, Pakistan says

PressTV -
The death toll of the latest US assassination drone attack in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region has risen to seven, officials tell Press TV.

Two drones fired four missiles at a vehicle in Datakhel Tehsi in North Waziristan region on Tuesday. An earlier report had said three people were killed in the attack.

Since Saturday, about 30 people have been killed by US drone strikes in the region.

A compound near the vehicle was damaged and engulfed in flames in the strike.

More than 200 people have lost their lives in such attacks so far this year.

US drone attacks in Pakistan, which are carried out by the CIA, have doubled during the administration of US President Barack Obama.

The UN and the Pakistani government have condemned the US use of combat drones as a blatant violation of international law.

Washington claims that the unmanned aircraft target militants and their strongholds, but victims of such attacks have been predominantly civilians.

The US military has deployed assassination drones in Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq, and Yemen.
